LostLink
Safety centre

Bring items back. Keep people safe.

LostLink can help people connect around an item, but every user should protect their privacy, verify claims, and use good judgement when arranging a handover.

Protect your personal information

Keep private details private

Do not post passwords, one-time codes, full student IDs, phone numbers, home addresses or financial and medical information in a listing or response.

Check before you hand over

Ask the claimant to describe a mark, case, accessory or other detail that is not visible in the listing. Do not publish every identifying detail.

Choose a safe meeting place

Prefer an official campus office, security desk or busy public location. For high-value items, involve authorised campus staff.

Recognise unsafe behaviour

What to do: Stop the interaction and contact the project team through the Contact page. For immediate danger, suspected crime or a dangerous item, contact campus security or local emergency services directly. LostLink is not an emergency response service.

Ownership and moderation limits

LostLink cannot physically verify every item, identity or ownership claim. A label, badge or account name does not guarantee that a user is trustworthy. Site owners must configure database access policies and storage permissions correctly, and should provide a monitored route for abuse reports and appeals.

Review our Privacy Notice, Terms & Conditions and Community Guidelines before using the service.
